Prudencio Gonchan came out of the goal and Agustín Saelices tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eloy Steven in the 5th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Prudencio Gonchan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Piuke's Arnaldo Joseph got a free kick in the 7th minute. Prudencio Gonchan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 10th minute of play. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Piuke's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Daniel Zorita made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Piuke's Prudencio Gonchan managed to reach the ball for a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Froilan Guzman got free with Julio Vera in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Piuke fans' excitement grew in the 14th match minute when Piuke's Eloy Steven looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 18th minute. Froilan Guzman might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Froilan Guzman ran back to his position shaking his head. 19 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Guzman came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Prudencio Gonchan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Lino Gurutz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 34 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Prudencio Gonchan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 38th minute of play forced Piuke's goalkeeper Prudencio Gonchan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Piuke getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Benito Quin hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Froilan Guzman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eloy Steven in the 53rd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, Piuke's goalkeeper Prudencio Gonchan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Agustín Saelices. 56 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Prudencio Gonchan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Federico Cristos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 72nd minute Eloy Steven shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Piuke's Prudencio Gonchan got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 73 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Prudencio Gonchan. Daniel Zorita showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eloy Steven in the 76th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Sebastián Puig to maneuver through the defense. Piuke made a substitution. Candido Montxo replaced Santo Urre. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. Eloy Steven scored 2-2 in the 84th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Prudencio Gonchan made a huge save. Piuke's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Isaac Madaleno in the 90th minute. Piuke's Isaac Madaleno was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. Prudencio Gonchan was out of position in the 94 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
