A collision led to USA getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Zach Harrison hit a great ball. The supporters of Gimnasia y tiro booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Koby Fletcher didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 4 minutes, Dong Jian Yang managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gimnasia y tiro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dong Jian Yang was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wieslaw Panasewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Monty Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edward Mcdonald might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wieslaw Panasewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edward Mcdonald ran back to his position shaking his head. USA's Monty Rogers got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th minute Monty Rogers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wieslaw Panasewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wieslaw Panasewicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cassius Byrne in the 15th minute of the match. Diego Bradley made in the 20th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Monty Rogers. In the 24th minute, Monty Rogers left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The USA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 27 minutes into the game, Diego Bradley threw the ball into play from the sideline. Gimnasia y tiro's Luciano Mouricio quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Gimnasia y tiro's Endre Szentes got a free kick in the 37th minute. Wieslaw Panasewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cassius Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Monty Rogers in the 44th minute of play forced Gimnasia y tiro's goalkeeper Wieslaw Panasewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gimnasia y tiro's Wieslaw Panasewicz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cassius Byrne in the 45th minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 67th minute, Reynaldo Montrelle left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gimnasia y tiro fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Monty Rogers did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-3 to the left of a surprised Wieslaw Panasewicz 69 minutes into the match. USA made a substitution. Sam Campbell replaced Cassius Byrne. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reynaldo Montrelle in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marco Day saved USA from getting behind. Thanks to some nice moves Sam Campbell could shoot a difficult shot in the 78th minute, which Wieslaw Panasewicz however easily saved by the left post. USA were awarded a corner in the 81th minute after Gimnasia y tiro's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jenson Smith took the corner. A very nice done corner allowed Sam Campbell to score against Wieslaw Panasewicz in Gimnasia y tiro's goal. 2-4 after 81 minutes. Sam Campbell took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Wieslaw Panasewicz. Wieslaw Panasewicz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-5. 92 minutes into the match, Gimnasia y tiro's goal looked a bit too open when Khalid Parry came free, but Wieslaw Panasewicz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Sam Campbell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Khalid Parry took a quick shot and it went in 2-6 without a chance for Wieslaw Panasewicz to make any attempt to save it.
