Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dênis Tepedino in the 21st minute of play. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andrézinho Mota to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aloísio Falcão. A collision led to Superação getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Dênis Tepedino hit a great ball. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 56th minute, Superação's Andrézinho Mota ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-2. In the 59th minute, Dênis Tepedino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zé Roberto Fonseca hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. In the 61st minute of the game Dadá de Godoi made a throw-in which Célio Eger played forward. In the 63rd match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Venegas to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Patricio Costa during the 67th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fellipe Meira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 85 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fellipe Meira was left in no man's land by his defense there! Venezuela's Patricio Costa got his second yellow card of the match in the 88th minute. The referee ordered Patricio Costa off the ground. In the 89th minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Superação's Dênis Tepedino ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 5-3. Venezuela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
