After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Hector Hugo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Colombia's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Radomil Michnik scored to the left of an out of position Pedro Manzanares, making the score, 2-0. The audience was convinced that Abram Sarmiento's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aurel Crivoi was relentless in the 21st minute of the game.
