Paraguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 12th minute, when Arnaldo Dalmu scored to the left of an out of position Jacobo Nores, making the score, 1-0. Paraguay's Hector Covarrubias managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Tuta Torres in the 17 minute of the game. Arnaldo Dalmu struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Los Laguneros de AT. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gilberto Padro during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd minute, Gilberto Padro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gerardo Gasteiz hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo Dalmu got free with Jacobo Nores in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arnaldo Dalmu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Hector Covarrubias notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Los Laguneros de AT's Guaberto Isaio. Guaberto Isaio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jaime Pardo was the one to do the kick off. If Tuta Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hector Covarrubias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guaberto Isaio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. 76 minutes into the game, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guaberto Isaio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Alan Campos hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Paraguay's Jacobo Nores played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuta Torres in the 80th minute of play. Paraguay's attentive Xavier Zoido managed to snatch the ball when Roberto Mouzo made a throw-in in the 82nd minute of the game. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Raul Venegas hit a great ball. Arnaldo Dalmu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tuta Torres made in the 89th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Gerardo Gasteiz. Alan Campos hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. When the final whistle sounded Paraguay left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Los Laguneros de AT.
