Spectators: 44 (Terracing: 34, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Tadeo Jakobe took the kick off in the first half of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Ramires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Cristobal Estavan made a huge save. After 15 minutes of play, Newell´s's Mattias Wallengren made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cristobal Estavan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A well placed Luis Andino short distance shot in the 25th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Newell´s's Cristobal Estavan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Tadeo Jakobe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Sebastián Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 36th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goalkeeper Cristobal Estavan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. When Mattias Wallengren came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Newell´s fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mattias Wallengren couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mattias Wallengren in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Newell´s were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Leopoldo Ferrer took the corner. Isidoro Ramires kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The supporters of Newell´s booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Mattias Wallengren came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Newell´s fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mattias Wallengren couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. When Tomás Lecanda came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Newell´s fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomás Lecanda couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera had great luck who in the 62ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Tadeo Jakobe from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Leopoldo Ferrer was slow to take the kick. During this time Newell´s's players had a chance to rest. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Newell´s was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tayyar Canbolat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristobal Estavan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Tadeo Jakobe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newell´s's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tadeo Jakobe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristobal Estavan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 93rd minute of the match. Isidoro Ramires kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Newell´s's Tomás Lecanda got a free kick in the 96th minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 98th minute. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Cristobal Estavan quite easily take care of the ball. When the referee ended the match the Ecuador players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
