Cecilio Seber started the match with the kick off. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 10 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Anders Larsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Club Atletico Fenix's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The supporters of Club Atletico Fenix booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Despite this Anders Larsson quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Club Atletico Fenix was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ezequiel Padro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Cecilio Seber came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

55 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Fenix's goalkeeper Anders Larsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Agustín Saelices had several of the Club Atletico Fenix's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 58 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-1 score and a disappointed Anders Larsson as he didn't even see the shot coming. Club Atletico Fenix made a substitution. Eskil Åkesson replaced Cecilio Seber. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Anders Larsson. That made the score 0-2 in the 63 minute of play. Anders Larsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Padro in the 70th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 83 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Anders Larsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Anders Larsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Club Atletico Fenix getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Lukasz Fafinski hit a great ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eskil Åkesson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anders Larsson. Anders Larsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. 94 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anders Larsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anders Larsson having to interfere.
