In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Ali Nabi Dündaroğlu tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nikolay Kremenyuk replaced Luiz Eduardo Barral. If Nikolay Kremenyuk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 67 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Oleg Ladygin to make any attempt to save it. In the 72nd minute, Primitivo Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oleg Ladygin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Eysk's goalkeeper Oleg Ladygin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nikolay Kremenyuk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Oleg Ladygin. That made the score 2-3 after 81 minutes of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ali Nabi Dündaroğlu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albert Malyugin in the 86th minute of play.
