A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. In the 14thth minute of the game Tomasz Huchro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A nice corner shot did that Angel Osasun got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Amadeo Carrizo in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, 9 de Diciembre's Amadeo Carrizo got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 26th minute, Anier Eron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Antonio Arias charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Antonio Arias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by 9 de Diciembre's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In the 36th match minute, 9 de Diciembre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amado Lider to maneuver through the defense. A sloppy throw-in by Camilo Gisbert in the 39th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by 9 de Diciembre's Yunior Olegario. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nils-Åke Kristiansson hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, 9 de Diciembre's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Amadeo Carrizo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amadeo Carrizo. Amadeo Carrizo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After 61 minutes, Anier Eron mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 9 de Diciembre and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when 9 de Diciembre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anier Eron didn't get a good kick on the ball. Camilo Gisbert hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. If Tomasz Huchro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomasz Huchro in the 64th minute of the match. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 73 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. Amadeo Carrizo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee ended the match the Ecuador players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
