Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cura del Futbol the free kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. Alfred Pawelczyk could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. In the 12th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes in the game Zacarias Balon did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Alfred Pawelczyk. Bonifacio Loramendi hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfred Pawelczyk went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. When Zacarias Balon fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cura del Futbol's protests and gave Zacarias Balon a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Cura del Futbol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zacarias Balon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eriberto Erlantz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 32nd minute of play. Natalio Gergori hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfred Pawelczyk to strike the kick off in the second half. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eriberto Erlantz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. In the 58th minute, Zacarias Balon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute, Alfred Pawelczyk left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cura del Futbol fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfred Pawelczyk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, Alfred Pawelczyk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfred Pawelczyk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Eriberto Erlantz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 91st minute. When Alfred Pawelczyk came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Cura del Futbol fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfred Pawelczyk couldn't finish the play. 96 minutes into the game, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eriberto Erlantz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cura del Futbol fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
