The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Mihnea Plăcintă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa was out of position in the 55 minute of play, and Luisinho Uribe capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luisinho Uribe really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. Rolando Noboa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luisinho Uribe showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 67 minute of play. In the 71st minute of the match, Luisinho Uribe got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rolando Noboa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post.
