Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 13th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. After having played for 23 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Club Deportes La Serena's Tobías Quilempan. Tobías Quilempan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ermegildo Fazzini made a kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Said Hamed managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Deportes La Serena's supporters crossed their fingers, but Said Hamed was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. In the 54th minute of the match Sten Pååk shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Ferrant showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Ermegildo Fazzini came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Ermegildo Fazzini kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportes La Serena's goalkeeper Tobías Quilempan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Said Hamed in the 93rd minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgardo Garzo hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Club Deportes La Serena's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
