With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. 9 minutes into the match, Colombia's goal looked a bit too open when Guga Trancoso came free, but Pedro Manzanares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guga Trancoso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Pedro Manzanares made a huge save. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mete Gøl in the 15th minute of play. A hard shot 18 in the game by Demis Katsarolidis from a close distance when the talented Pedro Manzanares managed to make a qualified save. Colombia's players were relieved. The audience thought a goal was coming when Baturhan Oytun got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pedro Manzanares made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Guga Trancoso sent off a good shot on target. Antonio Indiano's late challenge caught a PIAUÍ FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonio Indiano helped the player get up and apologised. After 22 played minutes Colombia got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Indiano. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guga Trancoso to make the kick off.
