Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Åke Ekelund managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eleven Nation Army's supporters rose to their feet, but Åke Ekelund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eleven Nation Army's Helge Brun got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 19 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Åke Ekelund came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 21 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eleven Nation Army's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Åke Ekelund in the 24th minute. Helge Brun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Eleven Nation Army was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Otto Budjana didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Viggo Lundkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Viggo Lundkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Helge Bruns short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Jonathan Ferrant to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Tomas Illescas came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Illescas couldn't finish the play. In the 59th minute, Eleven Nation Army's Olof Högström dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Jonathan Venegas hit a great ball. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. In the 70th minute Viggo Lundkvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Helge Brun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Qian Xing Wei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 played minutes Eleven Nation Army got a freekick which was hit by Otto Budjana. Eleven Nation Army's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
