The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Punta Alvear booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Beldad didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Inocencio Frichoso got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Venancio Oto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximiliano Escribano in the 19th minute of the match. Punta Alvear's Venancio Oto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Francisco Seco in the 20th minute of play. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermegildo Heriberto, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Inocencio Frichoso's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Joaquin Gayoso skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Ermegildo Heriberto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ermegildo Heriberto in the 29th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Joaquin Gayoso kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. In the 38th minute, Inocencio Frichoso ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Through an outstanding action, after 43 minutes, Joaquin Gayoso successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 45 minutes into the game, Ermegildo Heriberto lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Joaquin Gayoso. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Inocencio Frichoso made a kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Ermegildo Heriberto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Punta Alvear's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ermegildo Heriberto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Venancio Oto having to interfere. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ermegildo Heriberto's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Uruguay's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edelmiro Veremundo was slow to take the kick. During this time Punta Alvear's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Punta Alvear's Edelmiro Veremundo to fire away a dangerous shot which Joaquin Gayoso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Joaquin Gayoso didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ermegildo Heriberto went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. In the 66thth minute of the game Inocencio Frichoso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Uruguay's goal looked a bit too open when Inocencio Frichoso came free, but Joaquin Gayoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 71 minutes into the match, Punta Alvear's goalkeeper Venancio Oto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. If Jaime Cazalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Jaime Cazalla hit a great ball. Inocencio Frichoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. With a little luck, Punta Alvear's Venancio Oto got control of the ball when Maximiliano Escribano tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match clock showed 81 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Inocencio Frichoso sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Venancio Oto made a huge save. Edelmiro Veremundo got a throw-in 91 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Emanuel Gizon. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Inocencio Frichoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bogdan Gopov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Uruguay players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Punta Alvear.
