Through an outstanding action, after 5 minutes, Andres Ariando successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Andres Ariando tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Ekhi in the 18th minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andres Ariando having to make a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Andres Ariando in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcelino Dalmai hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Mexico's Joel Gaona couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 24th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Monsalvo. When Lautaro Mancebo came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulino Ekhi in the 27th minute of play. Andres Ariando made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 29th minute. A collision led to Monsalvo getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Apolo Martxelin hit a great ball. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulino Ekhi, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. 35 minutes into the game, one of Mexico:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Andres Ariando didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lautaro Mancebo went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Lautaro Mancebo kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Lisandro Nafarroa in the 50th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 52nd minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andres Ariando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 57th minute, Paulino Ekhi made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Andres Ariando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 61st minute of play. In the 63rd minute Apolo Martxelin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great ball. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Andres Ariando didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Monsalvo made a substitution. Teobaldo Montrell replaced Lisandro Nafarroa. Edvaldo Senna kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Andres Ariando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. After 95 played minutes Teobaldo Montrell rounded Mexico's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-3. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Monsalvo had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
