An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play forced Sputchi FC's goalkeeper Nicolas Olejmeulen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 40 in the game by Karl-Magnus Tidén from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. Karl-Magnus Tidén struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sputchi FC. Nicolas Olejmeulen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 46th minute of play. The supporters of Sputchi FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicolas Olejmeulen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Nicolas Olejmeulen made a huge save. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nicolas Olejmeulen came out and tried to block the shot, but Cristian Sancho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 81st minute. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Nicolas Olejmeulen made a huge save. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eskil Engström in the 86th minute of the match.
