Peru's Julian Murillo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Paulin Sequeiros in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. 15 minutes into the match, Julian Murillo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Vanadio F.C.'s Paulin Sequeiros. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulin Sequeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vanadio F.C. were furious when Gaspar Rocio was red carded, 45 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 46th minute, Gaspar Rocio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience held their breath when Alonso Berganza in the 48th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Paulin Sequeiros's left hand side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luz Tejedor got free with Paulin Sequeiros in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vanadio F.C.'s goalkeeper Paulin Sequeiros, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 57 minutes into the game, Peru's Julian Murillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulin Sequeiros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. The supporters of Vanadio F.C. booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efraim Gilabert didn't get a good kick on the ball.
