Pedro Manzanares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th minute, Luis Eduardo Ogazón Nava left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Axel Montenegro got free with 高鸿永 in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Colombia had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
