Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Ecuador booed when A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bento Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's goalkeeper Éder Póvoas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 17th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Éder Póvoas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA's Torcato Luz got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Éder Póvoas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Firme Hirte sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Torcato Luz to make the kick off. Firme Hirte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. After 54 played minutes A RATA DA SALGUEIRINHA got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Palma. In the 56th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Éder Póvoas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
