In the 2nd minute of the match, Lautaro Mancebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Holger Vester was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Lautaro Mancebo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 4th minute. Mexico's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 7th minute Luca Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Holger Vester saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gösta Söderberg in the 12th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 44 minutes, Alberto Tafalla took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Holger Vester to make any attempt to save it. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 47th minute, but Holger Vester got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Hammarby IF hanging dry this time. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joel Gaona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Holger Vester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 52nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gösta Söderberg got free with Dante Lacasa in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Celedonio Dominguez tried to sneak it across the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Holger Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hammarby IF's Holger Vester played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 76th minute of play. Holger Vester showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Holger Vester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Holger Vester made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 83rd minute of play. The Mexico fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Hammarby IF's goalie and right to Luca Rouco. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Hammarby IF's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Dante Lacasa was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gösta Söderberg showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-1 in the 95 minute of play. There was no doubt that Mexico were the better team. Mexico's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
