Red Sox's Alfredo Lucantoni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 9th minute of play. 13 minutes into the match, Red Sox's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Alfredo Lucantoni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lautaro Mancebo in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alfredo Lucantoni saved Red Sox from getting behind. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fortunato Boldrini in the 19th minute of the match. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Joel Gaona hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 22nd minute of play forced Red Sox's goalkeeper Alfredo Lucantoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 27 minutes on the clock, Emiliano Abete commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Lucantoni having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 36th minute of play forced Red Sox's goalkeeper Alfredo Lucantoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Claudio Pan came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 44 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Lorenzo Cazalla.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Claudio Pan was the one to do the kick off. Alfredo Lucantoni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Mexico's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
