With an extended leg and a bit of luck Samuel Asteri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 26th minute, Ecuador's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gilberto Eleazar fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Volvimos mejores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlos Cordearo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Inocencio Valente replaced Gilberto Eleazar. Samuel Asteri made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador played a much better game than Volvimos mejores and deserved their victory. The Volvimos mejores players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
