Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Cadu Team's Gelu Lepuș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 15th minute of play. 18 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Cadu Team's Gelu Lepuș. Gelu Lepuș was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Cadu Team's Válbson Paiva fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hugo Alcântara to make the kick off. During the 50th minute of the match Mattias Downing completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Mattias Downing a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Cadu Team's Mattias Downing got a free kick in the 51st minute. Cadu Team's Válbson Paiva got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gelu Lepuș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute of play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Válbson Paiva in the 81st minute of play. If Válbson Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Alcântara, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Válbson Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Ecuador players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
