In the 18th minute José Bomba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When F.C. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Bomba, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Bomba's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Tudor in the 43rd minute of play. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Bomba, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. A collision led to F.C. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Axel Tasis made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexander Carballo during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 62 minutes into the game, José Bomba recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Benito Sanz. José Bomba showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Bomba in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 67th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Ferrant. The crowd rose to their feet as F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Inácio Secco slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benito Sanz. That made the score 0-4 after 76 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Bóas Pernas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Bóas Pernas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. F.C. Paços de Ferreira made a substitution. Luka Modrić replaced Inácio Secco. José Bomba might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Bomba ran back to his position shaking his head. José Bomba could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. An unexpected shot in the 91st minute by Bóas Pernas got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luka Modrić was extremely unlucky when he, in the 93rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 96th match minute, F.C. Paços de Ferreira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luka Modrić to maneuver through the defense. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. F.C. Paços de Ferreira were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
