When Efrain Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Efrain Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of F.C.BARLAD booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Efrain Moruga didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Nichifor Codruț stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Nichifor Codruț tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Nichifor Codruț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 90th minute Nichifor Codruț shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Braulio Castel could shoot a difficult shot in the 91st minute, which Benito Sanz however easily saved by the left post. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Nichifor Codruț put it in 0-9 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. When the final whistle sounded F.C.BARLAD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Costa Rica.
