Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabio Domina in the 6th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Martesana Inter's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Emilio Spada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Martesana Inter's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emilio Spada came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Martesana Inter's Antonio Pinti couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 18th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. Emilio Spada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 22 minutes into the match, Martesana Inter's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Emilio Spada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Armando Toninelli. Emilio Spada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Armando Toninelli. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. After 33 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Juan Sebastián Puig. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play forced Martesana Inter's goalkeeper Emilio Spada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Martesana Inter's Emilio Spada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Armando Toninelli tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute of the match Martesana Inter got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Antonio Pinti ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 39 played minutes Martesana Inter got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Olmos. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Domina in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The supporters of Martesana Inter booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Fabio Domina came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agustín Saelices to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Fabio Domina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Emilio Spada didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Fabio Domina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Fabio Domina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 80 minutes into the match, Martesana Inter's goalkeeper Emilio Spada had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. Fabio Domina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. In the 85th minute, Roger Ibañez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 86th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Attilio Altobelli kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabio Domina in the 94th minute of play.
