Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Godoy in the 11th minute of play. Ponciano De Pedro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 19th minute of play. Ponciano De Pedro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of the match. Pelayo Mendez kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Auriolam II C.F.'s Ponciano De Pedro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montenegro in the 28th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Miguel Godoy's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. The corner led Auriolam II C.F.'s Gabri Gutierrez to fire away a dangerous shot which Julio Vera despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 35th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ponciano De Pedro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ponciano De Pedro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 37th minute of play. In the 38th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Luis Andino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 42nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ponciano De Pedro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Isidoro Gimenez kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Ponciano De Pedro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montenegro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Ponciano De Pedro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Ponciano De Pedro in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. Auriolam II C.F. made a substitution. Jesús Perera replaced Miguel Godoy. Gabri Gutierrez took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jesús Perera, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. 90 minutes into the match, Auriolam II C.F.'s Jesús Perera sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Auriolam II C.F. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position.
