Moises Gayoso made in the 13th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Luz Tejedor. After 16 minutes of play, La Bestia Negra's Carlos Fernando Faria made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rolando Noboa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Carlos Fernando Faria in the 19th minute. In the 43rd minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Radoslaw Oleszak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Pena in the 47th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Radoslaw Oleszak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Mina, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Peru's Alonso Berganza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Murilo Lisboa, made in the 91st minute of the game. 94 minutes into the game, Eliseo Mina recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Radoslaw Oleszak. Eliseo Mina showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. The Peru players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
