Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Dionisio Barea:s penalty. In the 5th minute, Dionisio Barea reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Julio Vera. The goal made the score 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sebastián Junes saved Celtic FC from getting behind. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Nicolas Froila sent off a good shot on target. In the 16th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sebastián Junes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Sebastián Junes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 19th minute of the match. Sebastián Junes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernd Goorts kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isidoro Lugo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 25th minute of play forced Celtic FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Junes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicolas Froila. The audience was convinced that Isidoro Lugo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastián Junes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oscar Udalaitz struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Celtic FC. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Isidoro Lugo made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nicolas Froila came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sebastián Junes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sebastián Junes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Celtic FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Junes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Isidoro Lugo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Nicolas Froila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Froila in the 69th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sebastián Junes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Froila, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolas Froila in the 83rd minute of play. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Agustín Saelices could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Sebastián Junes made a huge save. The Celtic FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
