With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jose-Manuel Alabern in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Ezequiel Candela made a huge save. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jose-Manuel Alabern, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Gowland's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gowland eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
