Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Honorio Aztore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Efrain Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The supporters of Nuevo Horizonte booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niceto Virila showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Puig in the 70th minute of the match. Lautaro Puig blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Niceto Virila having to make a save. In the 79th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Moruga to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the match, Nuevo Horizonte's Honorio Aztore broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Lautaro Puig's late challenge caught a Nuevo Horizonte's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lautaro Puig helped the player get up and apologised. Lautaro Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Baldomero Lapurdi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Benito Sanz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Axel Tasis fell near the penalty area in the 89th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Axel Tasis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 92 minutes, Juan Rubio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Nuevo Horizonte players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Juan Rubio hit a great ball. Nuevo Horizonte's Baldomero Lapurdi was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 93rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.
