After some careless play in the Zijdewind SC defense, Aaron Alcocer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leon Meyer. The Zijdewind SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leon Meyer should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rein van Steensel in the 7th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Zijdewind SC's goalkeeper Leon Meyer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. Rudi den Hartog hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. In the 11th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leon Meyer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 12th minute of the match Costa Rica got a corner. Zijdewind SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Axel Tasis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Marcel Luirink tried in the game's 13th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Leon Meyer. An annoying self made goal, 2-0. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Leon Meyer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. In the 18th minute of the match Eliseo Noboa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leon Meyer showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Puig got free with Leon Meyer in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zijdewind SC's Leon Meyer proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Zijdewind SC from getting a goal against them. 29 minutes into the game, Lautaro Puig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Leon Meyer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thanks to some nice moves Axel Tasis could shoot a difficult shot in the 31st minute, which Leon Meyer however easily saved by the left post. Rob Deiman scored 3-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eliseo Noboa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leon Meyer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Leon Meyer made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Lautaro Puig sent off a good shot on target. Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 45th minute to try and stop a shot by Zijdewind SC's Ferdi Dekens. But to his dismay, Ferdi Dekens quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rein van Steensel was the one to do the kick off. Zijdewind SC's Rob Deiman suffered a sore thigh after 50 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Aaron Alcocer fell near the penalty area in the 50th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Aaron Alcocer a yellow card for diving instead. Zijdewind SC made a substitution. Chiel Brinke replaced Rob Deiman. The supporters of Zijdewind SC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Zijdewind SC's Gerard Kok got a free kick in the 55th minute. After having played for 62 minutes, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Axel Tasis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Leon Meyer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Puig in the 67th minute of play. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Ferdi Dekens tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leon Meyer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 70th minute of the match. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rein van Steensel, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. With a little luck, Costa Rica's Benito Sanz got control of the ball when Ferdi Dekens tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 75 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Zijdewind SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pieter-Jan van der Laan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 played minutes, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Leon Meyer came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Costa Rica reached it. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Rein van Steensel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. Costa Rica's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
