Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Velichko Shindarov in the 9th minute of the match. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darin Gladichev in the 11th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Thomas Rix in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Cotilla saved Panama from getting behind. 21 minutes into the match, Panama's goal looked a bit too open when Darin Gladichev came free, but Marcos Cotilla reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 21st minute, Darin Gladichev made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 24 minutes into the match, Darin Gladichev notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Panama's Marcos Cotilla. Avgustin Yochev made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 48th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Berganza was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Darin Gladichev. In the 57th minute, Kosta Kúnov reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Cotilla. The goal made the score 0-3.
