The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Peru's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. A collision led to Cuatrodeocho getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fulgencio Villalcazar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Batuhin in the 23rd minute of play. Cuatrodeocho's David Batuhin managed to work through Peru's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. David Batuhin dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Fulgencio Villalcazar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 27th minute of the match. When Felipe Dimas fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cuatrodeocho's protests and gave Felipe Dimas a yellow card for diving instead. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Felipe Dimas hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 33 minutes into the match, Cuatrodeocho's goalkeeper Fulgencio Villalcazar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Milagros Fraga. 34 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fulgencio Villalcazar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cuatrodeocho's Fulgencio Villalcazar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Cuatrodeocho from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Batuhin in the 46th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Cuatrodeocho's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Fulgencio Villalcazar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Batuhin to strike the kick off in the second half. Peru were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
