Cauã Domingues came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Cauã Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. SANTOS F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues did a great save. In the 28th minute, Dalmo Cerezo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cauã Domingues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After a rather tough play, SANTOS F.C's Marcelo Proença got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 33rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cauã Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind SANTOS F.C's goalkeeper Cauã Domingues, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Cauã Domingues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Abel Neto went, in the 47th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Neto in the 53rd minute of play. After 54 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. Cauã Domingues made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Cauã Domingues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Soeiro in the 61st minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 67 minutes into the game, when Felix Montes put in a rough tackle. 67 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Betão Torres:s penalty. SANTOS F.C's Cauã Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save SANTOS F.C from getting a goal against them. Durvalino Soeiro succeeded in the game's 82nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-3. In the 86th minute Durvalino Soeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SANTOS F.C's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cauã Domingues came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SANTOS F.C's Gustavo Vinhas got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
