Pål Sefastsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 4th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Carlos Alberto Tevez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. 10 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Pål Sefastsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chile were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after National Team Cape-Verde's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mariano Lacasa took the corner. Pål Sefastsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Xavier Figueroa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, National Team Cape-Verde's Cris Montoia got a free kick in the 18th minute. Carlos Alberto Tevez blasted a shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thiago Pliego having to make a save. Pål Sefastsson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 21st minute. After 25 minutes, Carlos Alberto Tevez made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Chile's Thiago Pliego tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save National Team Cape-Verde from getting a goal against them. 31 minutes in the game Cris Montoia did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Henrik Örnberg. In the 46th play minute Mariano Lacasa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Pål Sefastsson. 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

National Team Cape-Verde's Bennvar Post was substituted for Carlos Alberto Tevez. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 53rd minute of play forced National Team Cape-Verde's goalkeeper Pål Sefastsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bennvar Post in the 59th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Orlando Casaus during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 59 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Orlando Casaus. In the 60th minute of the match Anton Vibjörnsson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Thiago Pliego showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bennvar Post got free with Thiago Pliego in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pål Sefastsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Pål Sefastsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 65 minutes of play, Chile's Mariano Lacasa made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pål Sefastsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pål Sefastsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, National Team Cape-Verde's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Lacasa came free, but Pål Sefastsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bennvar Post could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chile's supporters rose to their feet, but Mariano Lacasa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pål Sefastsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 79 minutes, Mariano Lacasa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chile's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mariano Lacasa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Chile's Mariano Lacasa in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye National Team Cape-Verde's goalie prevented a goal. Bennvar Post received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Thiago Pliego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Orlando Casaus hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 89thth minute of the game Mariano Lacasa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Bennvar Post took a quick shot and it went in 4-3 without a chance for Thiago Pliego to make any attempt to save it. Chile were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of National Team Cape-Verde for a fine match.
