In the 10th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Macos Graciani to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lico Tarin in the 15th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Facundo Cadaval got free with Ronny Engström in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th match minute, ATLETAS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marc de Pelsmakere to maneuver through the defense. Ronny Engström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronny Engström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lico Tarin in the 26th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lico Tarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Ronny Engström in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lico Tarin in the 35th minute of play. When Lico Tarin came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the ATLETAS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lico Tarin couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute, Haroldo Gibert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ronny Engström was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 40th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Joel Gaona. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lico Tarin in the 41st minute of play. ATLETAS FC's Erubiel Madaleno managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Macos Graciani in the 43 minute of the game. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

ATLETAS FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Haroldo Gibert in the 59th minute. The corner led ATLETAS FC's Haroldo Gibert to fire away a dangerous shot which Dante Lacasa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Lico Tarin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lico Tarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 66 minutes into the game, Alberto Tafalla cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Ronny Engström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. ATLETAS FC's Eutropio Turienzo was substituted for Lico Tarin. Ronny Engström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 72nd minute of the match. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Macos Graciani hit a great ball. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eutropio Turienzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Ronny Engström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 79th minute of play. Ronny Engström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 87 minutes of play, ATLETAS FC's Eutropio Turienzo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dante Lacasa was left in no man's land by his defense there! 90 minutes into the match, Eutropio Turienzo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eutropio Turienzo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Mexico were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing ATLETAS FC to leave the ground with a draw.
