Gelu Beșliu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valeriu Floricel having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ionel Martinaș to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Vintilă Chelaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 56 minutes, Eliseo Noboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Noboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aaron Alcocer succeeded in the game's 58th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 3-0. In the 68th minute, Lautaro Puig made a precise shot to the right of Valeriu Floricel. Paralia Athens's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. Ionel Martinaș kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Valeriu Floricel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lautaro Puig struck a weak shot in the 87th minute.
