Camilo Salvidor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 12th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Julian Murillo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Camilo Salvidor was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Emmanuel Reyes made in the 17th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Milagros Fraga. After some careless play in the Peru defense, Uriel Gorri kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rolando Noboa. The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rolando Noboa should have stopped the shot. Camilo Salvidor showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After 24 minutes Menchu FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Julian Murillo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Camilo Salvidor quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a defensive mix-up in Menchu FC's zone, Julian Murillo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Camilo Salvidor came out of the goal and Julian Murillo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Gabriele Batistuta tried to sneak it across the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Tomas Cordaryal got a throw-in 52 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Gabriele Batistuta. Camilo Salvidor made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. In the 64th minute Gabriele Batistuta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Menchu FC made a substitution. Primitivo Rocendo replaced Peter Söderqwist. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaston Firmo in the 73rd minute of play. In the 75th minute, Gaston Firmo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rolando Noboa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. A sloppy throw-in by Armando Roland in the 77th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaston Firmo, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Julian Murillo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Camilo Salvidor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peru made a substitution. Rafael Gallo replaced Julian Murillo. After 91 played minutes Menchu FC got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Jupân. The supporters of Peru booed when Menchu FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basarab Jupân didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute, Eliseo Mina sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Menchu FC's Camilo Salvidor didn't even have to move. Eliseo Mina hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Peru's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Menchu FC had won, even though Peru had held more of the ball.
