Chile's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sid Wilson ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Horea Băieșu managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 33 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fulgencio Villalcazar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mariano Lacasa got free with Fulgencio Villalcazar in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fulgencio Villalcazar made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cuatrodeocho walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
