Augusto Oinatz's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Augusto Oinatz helped the player get up and apologised. After 4 played minutes, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bernabe Arano came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Venezuela reached it. If Delmar Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 8th minute of play forced CERPA's goalkeeper Bernabe Arano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romeo Florinio in the 10th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeo Florinio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeo Florinio got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. During the 24th minute of the match Augusto Oinatz completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Augusto Oinatz a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 24th match minute, CERPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Oinatz to maneuver through the defense. When Patricio Costa came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Venezuela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patricio Costa couldn't finish the play. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernabe Arano having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bernabe Arano prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, CERPA's Ermegildo Gora got a free kick in the 40th minute. After a defensive mix-up in CERPA's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bernabe Arano came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Alberto Herauso fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CERPA's protests and gave Alberto Herauso a yellow card for diving instead. In the 43rd minute, Alberto Herauso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Delmar Valente sent off a good shot on target. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye CERPA's goalie prevented a goal. Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Romeo Florinio got a throw-in 56 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Delmar Valente. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bernabe Arano having to make a save. Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernabe Arano made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of CERPA booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Delmar Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 66 minutes of play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bernabe Arano was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 73rd minute of the match, Tomas Illescas got a very nice opportunity to score, but Bernabe Arano was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 75th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. 78 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bernabe Arano. Tomas Illescas showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernabe Arano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Ermegildo Gora fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
