Pannekoeken's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Haroldo Weather recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Haroldo Weather in the 10th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elbert Haar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13th minute, Ham Kaas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 14th minute of play forced Pannekoeken's goalkeeper Elbert Haar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Pannekoeken's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Pannekoeken was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugon Wolicki didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ecuador's Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Elbert Haar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 31st minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo Weather in the 34th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Haroldo Weather managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pannekoeken's supporters rose to their feet, but Haroldo Weather was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 45 minutes into the match, Pannekoeken's Haroldo Weather sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Cristian Sancho hit a great ball. In the 51st minute of the match Otto Hovenkamp shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Pannekoeken was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Weather didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Pannekoeken's Elbert Haar got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Elbert Haar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Haroldo Weather, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Pannekoeken getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Ham Kaas hit a great ball. A nice corner shot did that Fernando Geraets got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Haroldo Weather in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind.
