The VILLARREAL UNITED fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frodo Hernandez should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Efrain Moruga in the 16th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by VILLARREAL UNITED's Ion Sobera. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tome Campoamor in the 21st minute of play. Frodo Hernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tome Campoamor struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VILLARREAL UNITED. Frodo Hernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 34th minute of play. In the 39th minute Tome Campoamor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Puig could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Frodo Hernandez made a huge save. VILLARREAL UNITED's attentive Tome Campoamor managed to snatch the ball when Lautaro Puig made a throw-in in the 44th minute of the game. A throw-in in the 45th minute of the game was made by Hugo Ferrant with Juan Rubio as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zadornin Silva in the 52nd minute of play. After 56 minutes, Eliseo Noboa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the VILLARREAL UNITED players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Eliseo Noboa hit a great ball. Tome Campoamor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Tome Campoamor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hugo Ferrant made in the 62nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Lautaro Puig however managed to control. Frodo Hernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Tasis in the 65th minute of play. Frodo Hernandez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Axel Tasis in the 67th minute of the match. Efrain Moruga made in the 69th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eliseo Noboa. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig got a free kick in the 70th minute. Frodo Hernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Lautaro Puig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to VILLARREAL UNITED getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Ion Sobera hit a great ball. VILLARREAL UNITED's Iyan Flores managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Juan Rubio in the 86 minute of the game. Iyan Flores was extremely unlucky when he, in the 86th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Hugo Ferrant got a throw-in 92 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Juan Rubio. If Tome Campoamor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
