LATIUM's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. At last the ball reached Luis Andino at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of LATIUM. 0-2. Alessandro Marchesani made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alessandro Marchesani narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by LATIUM's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when LATIUM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Luis Andino advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-4 in the 52nd minute. After 55 played minutes LATIUM got a freekick which was hit by Antonello Ciarrocchi. Alfonso Petricca hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Alessandro Marchesani, 0-5. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Alessandro Marchesani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in LATIUM's zone, Agustín Saelices stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alessandro Marchesani came out of the goal and Agustín Saelices tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 69th minute, which Alessandro Marchesani however easily saved by the left post. LATIUM's defense didn't have a chance, in the 70th minute, when Daniel Zorita scored to the left of an out of position Alessandro Marchesani, making the score, 0-6. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alessandro Marchesani having to make a save. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alessandro Marchesani was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-7 in the 78 minute of play. After 80 played minutes LATIUM got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Petrini. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Marchesani having to interfere. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. In the 87th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alessandro Marchesani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador played a much better game than LATIUM and deserved their victory. The LATIUM players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
