If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Sylvan Van der Willeghem stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Sylvan Van der Willeghem tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Venezuela's Tomas Illescas in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye RWDM's goalie prevented a goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tony Vandenberge prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Sylvan Van der Willeghem had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, RWDM's Reemy Van Gorpt got a free kick in the 31st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Sylvan Van der Willeghem managed to get in a good position for a shot. RWDM's supporters rose to their feet, but Sylvan Van der Willeghem was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sylvan Van der Willeghem in the 39thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. After having played for 63 minutes, Sylvan Van der Willeghem managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RWDM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sylvan Van der Willeghem was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sylvan Van der Willeghem in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 75th minute Ritchie Kerkhofs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fre Schoovaerts in the 76th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sylvan Van der Willeghem's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tony Vandenberge, 4-1. The audience was convinced that Sylvan Van der Willeghem's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. RWDM's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
