Nils Smitt hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Svante Gustafsson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 7th minute of play forced Salem Gunners BK's goalkeeper Prodromos Britzolidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bo Sundén sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Salem Gunners BK's Svante Gustafsson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Viggo Berggren was slow to take the kick. During this time Salem Gunners BK's players had a chance to rest. The audience was convinced that Svante Gustafsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Luis Andino managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Luis Andino was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Prodromos Britzolidis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 52nd minute Bo Sundén shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Cícero Teles ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Prodromos Britzolidis in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 69 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 71st minute, Hannes Qvalfeldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 76 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Viggo Berggren who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Viggo Berggren got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cícero Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Svante Gustafsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Prodromos Britzolidis in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 92nd minute. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Prodromos Britzolidis despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Prodromos Britzolidis in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Salem Gunners BK support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
