Davi Dal Bello scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Igor Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. In the 29th minute, Davi Dal Bello left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dal 3ello fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Daniel Zorita in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Igor Taffarel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 38 minutes, Ediberto Pena mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dal 3ello and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Igor Taffarel to make any attempt to save it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ronaldo Dal Bello stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Igor Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 56th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Diogo Dal Bello stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Diogo Dal Bello tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Dal Bello got free with Julio Vera in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 62 minutes into the match, Dal 3ello's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Igor Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute, Juan Sebastián Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Víktor Ferraz might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Igor Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 67th minute Ronaldo Dal Bello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 68th minute Dal 3ello were awarded a corner. Víktor Ferraz went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Diogo Dal Bello got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 2-3. 69 minutes into the match. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Felipe Dal Bello sent off a good shot on target. After 77 minutes of play, Dal 3ello's Ronaldo Dal Bello made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Ronaldo Dal Bello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Dal 3ello getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Felipe Dal Bello hit a great ball. In the 84th match minute, Dal 3ello was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Lamonica to maneuver through the defense. In the 85th match minute, Dal 3ello was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Dal Bello to maneuver through the defense. In the 86thth minute of the game Cristian Sancho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dal 3ello's Igor Taffarel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dal 3ello's Igor Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute of play. Igor Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 90th minute of play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ronaldo Dal Bello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Ecuador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
