Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 24th play minutes Georg Gustavsson shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Julio Vera and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 27th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maximino Cesario saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maximino Cesario showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by La masia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Jerom Kint tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Maximino Cesario. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-1 in the 31st minute. When Georg Gustavsson fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored La masia's protests and gave Georg Gustavsson a yellow card for diving instead. Youri Horemans hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. 37 minutes into the match, La masia's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Maximino Cesario reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute. The referee showed Juan Sebastián Puig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of La masia booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 48 minutes, Julio Vera successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.

The wind increased when Georg Gustavsson made the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegro came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Maximino Cesario could save by the left post. 68 minutes into the game, Georg Gustavsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wes Lieckens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Georg Gustavsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Georg Gustavsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maximino Cesario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of play. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Georg Gustavsson's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The La masia fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
