After 27 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alan Moruga. In the 33rd minute of the match, Lautaro Puig got a very nice opportunity to score, but Ole Per Köppen was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Joost Schlüter scored 1-1 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benito Sanz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Axel Tasis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Ole Per Köppen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lautaro Puig to maneuver through the defense. Efrain Moruga hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Tasis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ole Per Köppen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 58th minute, Axel Tasis made a precise shot to the right of Ole Per Köppen. KFC Hansa's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joost Schlüter in the 61st minute of play. Alan Moruga kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Efrain Moruga got a free kick in the 67th minute. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Abel Carballo kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. 75 minutes into the match, Joost Schlüter notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Axel Tasis hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. 88 minutes into the match, Lautaro Puig had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ole Per Köppen. KFC Hansa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Puig was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. KFC Hansa's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Costa Rica had won, even though KFC Hansa had held more of the ball.
